Wow!! I am so excited to be at the red centre and to be staying in the most incredible free camp, just outside Uluru in the beautiful red sand dunes. I just went for a walk up to the closest hill and from the top could see Uluru in all it's glory. It really is breathtaking. Sam and i took numerous photos but hope to get even better ones tomorrow night.
We have come from Coober Pedi stopping on the way at a free camp at Marla and then on the SA/NT border which were both pretty good considering on the Stuart Hwy. On the border we met two families doing OZ in 3 months. This seems to be pretty common, probably sabbaticals. We had a fire and toasted marshmellows and all the kids played all sorts of inventive games.
Today we left after home schooling at 10ish and made our way to Erindura, filled up with fuel and on to Uluru. We had a little bit of a quarrel as the GPS lady, who thinks she knows it all, told Luuk to go right when we were to continue straight ahead and then go left. I said " don't listen to her " and Luuk accused me of being jealous. I'm sick of her as most of the time she takes us on a wild goose chase. What happened to good old trust in your wife and a map??? This threesome is a little out of hand.
The next few days will be awesome, taking in the amazing views, sunrises and sunsets, learning about Aboriginal dreamtime ( coincidence that Sam is up to this in his home schooling) and seeing Uluru up close. Washed my hair today after 10 days and combed out the dreadies. Feels good!!!
