hey everyone!
so so sorry it's been a while since we last left a blog to let you know how we've been doing and what we've been getting up to!
i think we let u in Surfers Paradise, well the beach party was alright we went and baught a 'goon' (a 5 litre box of wine!) and sat on the beach listening to an Abba tribute band, it was a pretty alright evening and nice just to chill out and not have music blaring out at us for once! thats a bit scary saying that i must admit, but yeah it was nice!
we left Surfer's the following day and began making our way with our fellow Oz Experience people to Hervey Bay, this is where we get the ferry across to Fraser Island for our camping trip! we arrived in Hervey Bay, popped into the Palace (people we booked with) office and gave them sdome more money for taxes and food and various bits and bobs! The following morning we had to get up pretty early in order to sort everything out, we had to pack camping gear, have a briefing on what to do and what not to do, had to go to the supermarket and do some shopping and pick up copious amounts of alcohol! Once we were all packed and kitted out, our 3 4X4's drove to the ferry port to get aboard! unfortunatly because neither Liv or I are over 21 we're not supposed to drive on Fraser Island, but that deffinaltly wasn't going to stop me! on the Island after a 40 min ferry we got onto the sand island, literally ALL sand, but still has jungles! let down the tyres and headed off onto the beaches! unfortunatly you cannot swim in the sea beacouse the water is SHARK INFESTED but there were plenty of fresh water lakes that we could swim in! anyway, we drove around, our driver was shockingly bad, but he was the only guy over 21 in our jeep, our 3 jeeps drove round for a while and later that day we parked up and set up camp on the beach! the night went down extremely well with 2 Irish Lads Mark and Gerry from Derry setting the drinking standards for the night which everyone found rather difficult to keep up with! we had dingoe's (wild dogs) come up to our camp and steal our lettuce, but we had someone keep guard from then on! after getting to bed about 2am we woke at 8.30 so that we could get onto the beach to get into the mainland before the tide came up to far. we drove around visiting various look out points, sand dunning, swimming in fantastic lakes, champange pools and dolphin watching. we settled down for yet another night, the Irish Lads had bought along 90 beers between them, so they were keen to start drinking as early as possible, even though they were designated drivers! i was even allowed behind the wheel as our jeep group of 7 got fed up with our drivers rubbish driving! we settled in for the second night, dingoes coming and going, fortunatly not stealing anything this time, but still, scary enough! The moring after we headed to Lake McKenzie and basked in the sun for several hours before heading back towards the port in order to catch the ferry beack to the mainland! on non-sandy land we had to clear out the jeeps and headed back to our hostel, we had a lazy day and partyed hard in the evening, apparently annoying every other room on site, we stayed up till about 3am with everyone who went to fraser Island in our group it was really really lovely, but a bit messy! haha! the following day most of us just decided to have a lazy day in front of the TV watching copious DVD's, and snacking out infront of the TV, we chilled all day and had an early night to catch up on sleep!
anyway, i'm going to leave it at that, i'm guna try and get Liv to fill in any missed details and i'll also get her to update on the Cattle Ranch and the Whitsundays sailing trip 2moz! we're heading to a place called Magnetic Island where we're just guna chill for 3 days! YAY!!! we're not guna be able to put up any photo's for a while, but bear with us, we do keep trying but it's really difficult in internet cafes, as we need to upload software in order to do it but they generally won't let us, so we'll keep trying!!
anyway......love to EVERYONE!!! thanks to Francis for writting a lovely message it's lovely to hear from you and i love the sounds of ur mini gumball, was well jealous when i heard! keep the messages coming and miss you all
