Lisa's Big Adventure
San Francisco
The trip from Bass Lake to San Francisco was only a few hours so we were down at Fisherman's Wharf by midday. We headed directly to Pier 39 and found a restaurant to have lunch that gave views of the harbour. The food was excellent and afterwards we wandered around the Pier, looking in the shops and watching the street performers.
Then it was time to get back on the bus and we were driven around San Francisco, shown china town and other multicultural areas. We drove out and over the Golden Gate Bridge, stopping on the other side for photos and to check out the famous bridge. Then it was back on the bus and to Golden Gate Park for some exploring before we headed down through Haight Ashbury, where flower power started in the late 60's. Passed Postcard Row, the street of terrace houses that gets shown for every movie or TV scene set in San Francisco, and finally back to the hotel.
Dinner involved catching a cable car into China Town and I ended up standing on the edge, holding onto the rail. The cable cars are pretty amazing, they feel very rickety but are a major part of what you expect when travelling over and up the hills that make up San Francisco. Yes, it is as hilly as you imagine. Our chinese dinner was great and then it was off to another club until the early hours.
