Day 53 - 1st Mar - Mardi Gras!! Busy day too - seeing it was a really nice day, we went back into Sydney CBD, hopefully to see it better in the sunshine! We got the chance to walk around the harbour in the sunshine; everything looks nicer in the sunshine, more like the Sydney that you see in the pictures! We all wanted to go and visit the Harbour Bridge and there is the chance to climb it but it is so expensive, but we choose the cheaper option to climb one of the bridge pylons. Was such an amazing view from the top, could see the whole of Sydney, was really glad that we got the opportunity to go back into Sydney on a nice day. After we got the ferry around to Darling Harbour, nice little boat trip around the harbour and under the harbour bridge. Back to the Hostel to get ready for Mardi Gras, journey back into the city was funny especially as we were dressed up. Got a pretty good spot on the parade route, it was at the start so we got to see most of the floats go past. The area was absolutely heaving with people, every type of eccentric person you could imagine, and every float representing all types of group. There was a lot of camp dancing, glitter, costumes, drag queens, feathers, anything remotely extravagant was there! Such a fun parade, seemed like everyone was just in a bit of a carnival spirit! After the parade we went to a bar and even participated in some trash-ioke! not good!
