Day 11 - As we were so close to Mexico being in San Diego, thought we would get an extra stamp on the passport and go for a day trip there, especially seeing we still had the car. Had a car full as took 2 northern lads we met in the Hostel with us, was quite glad they came in the end as made us feel a bit safer. Not that it wasn't safe but was nice to have them there when people were hassling us when we walked past shops! Tijuana is basically where Americans go to get everything cheap, especially alcohol, we were constantly being offer tequila everywhere we went! Walked up and down the shopping area looking at a few of the shops, just strolling about quite nice seeing the weather was really good! Weirdest thing about Tijuana was for some reason they had donkeys which they painted stripes on, think it had some cultural tradition behind it but all the same very weird! Getting from America to mexico was so easy you don't even have to show your passport, you literally walk through a set of revolving doors, getting back on the other hand was a different story! Has to que for about 45mins due to complete lack of organization and interigation when you finally did get to passport control. Dropped the lads back to San Diego and made our way up the coast towards the OC! Went on a detour through Laguna Beach and Newport! For about 2 hours we officially became OC girls, loved it! Drove around Laguna Hills, which was so plush and nice, massive houses, great cars…massive difference to Mexico! Drove right the way down the coast as the sun was setting, was everything you see on TV but so much nicer. Hard to explain, even drove past a beach where some Teens had a bonfire and were chatting beside it (proper OC moment). Headed through Newport to complete our tour then back to the freeway towards Hermosa. All the places along this bit of the coast seem really similar, all picturesque!
