Hello all,
Kanchanaburi is amazing! Had a fantastic day today. After a hearty spicy soup breakfast we went to the Thai-Burmese Railway Museum all about WWII and how the Japanese ordered thousands of PoWs to construct the 'Death Railway' named so as nearly 100,000 people died building it (loads of them British). It was a really interesting museum; upsetting too when we learnt about what the PoWs lives were like.
This afternoon we went to Tiger Temple (pretty famous - been on discovery channel and stuff) this is where a monastry of monks took in an abandoned tiger cub to look after, the monastry became well known for it and now loads of different animals are looked after there by the monks. The tigers are really tame and you can stroke them and we both got our photos taken with them. It was a good job that I (Rich) was wearing a brand new t-shirt today because the tiger sprayed a steaming jet of wee across my chest, ah good times. I will never forget that smell!!! We'll put some photos up soon.
We are off to a cooking school tomorrow hopefully to learn how to cook our favourite authentic Thai dishes. Will let you know how we get on.
Tchau for now!!
