Hello!
We love Kanchanaburi! We did the cooking school on Monday, was really good! Learnt loads, just hope we can manage to cook the recipes at home! Went cycling up to the bridge over the river Kwai too; it was fun despite the fact that my (Lisa) bike had no brakes!
Yesterday we went on a tour around the province. First stop was Erawan waterfall and it was amazing! Its a seven tier waterfall with a 2km hike to the top, and one of the most beautiful places we've ever been :) went swimming too which was a bit scary as there were huge fish everywhere which seem to like sucking human skin! Then went to some WWII memorials-Hellfire Pass was incredible and really quite harrowing, then on to the death railway. You can actually walk along the railway tracks which seems kind of crazy, especialy considering the railway is still in use, high up on a wooden bridge, and full of gaps between the rickety planks of wood to walk on, but I guess thats Thailand for you!
Been to Ayuttaya today, its Thailands ancient capital and there are some pretty cool temple ruins. Met a guy called Ben from the states and cycled around with him. We saw that cool head in the trees (Rich was excited because it is a Bodhi tree - some huge Buddhist significance I think.) It started raining though so we didnt get to see everything we wanted. We got drenched!
We're just off to get the sleeper train to Chiang Mai now, heard it's very bumpy so hope we get some sleep.
Good night! x x x x x
