So after a lovely fresh breakfast we set off to return to Vienna and all goes well until we get to about 50 metres from the car park to return the car and it all goes pear shape! Do you think we could find it? Not a chance, we did a couple more kilometres going around various blocks frustrating the hell out of the sat nav, only to return to the same spot! Got directions from a policeman then did a couple more circuits! Lol. We then parked in the same spot for the umpteenth time and I walked to the office to discover we were, yes you guessed it 50 metres from the entrance! Grrrr. Relieved to give the car back we head off for a quick beer and lunch before jumping on the hop on hop off bus to go for a ride on the Vienna Giant Ferris Wheel, which was built in 1897 and was featured in the legendary film, The Third Man, starring Orson Wells. Then back on the bus to go to the Danube Tower, which is Vienna's tallest attraction. It was built in 1964 for the Viennese Int Horticulture Show and has a high speed lift up to the observation platform at 165 m in just 35 seconds, we then climbed a further 30 m up to the revolving restaurant for a super expensive drink. The view is free of charge! Lol. Panic then sets in as we get back to the bus stop and no bus arrives! So, we're a long way out of town, it's 7.40pm by now and so we start walking through the park hoping to find a subway station, we get so far and our way is blocked by buildings and we are lost! Help appears in the form of a family out walking who thankfully save the day and guide us to a station, panic over. Next stop Hard Rock Cafe where we eat too much, for a change, then home to collapse into bed.
