I met up with the girls a bit later and had some dinner and drinks. I randomly saw a guy from the Oz bus again and the couple from Thailand, everyone does all the same route. Then I went to the free beer tasting which was fun and we all stayed in the bar and had a fair few drinks. There was an offer which was buy 5 double vodkas and get the 6th free so we made the most of that. Then we headed to Shark bar which was $15 for 4 glasses of wine and a shot. Needless to say it was a fun but messy night but I met loads of really nice people and we have a good group now until Queenstown. The next morning we headed to Westport. There wasn't much there really and we were all a bit shattered after not getting back till about 3am so we chatted in our rooms and got an early night.
The next morning we had another bus journey to Lake Mahinapua which was another long ish day. We stopped off early in the morning for a 45min walk which woke everyone up but was quite refreshing. Then a couple of hours later, we stopped off to see some pancake rocks and blow holes. It was raining but still pretty impressive. We also had to stop off to buy props/costumes for the fancy dress party, where we all had to dress up as something beginning with P. When we arrived at the hostel, we were greeted by 84 year old Les who runs the place and was a laugh. I went as a pirate but there were some pretty inventive ones. I had a fair bit of wine and some jaeger bombs and had a really fun night.
Time seems to be going really quickly now and I seem to be making my way around fairly quickly. It will be nice to get a bit of normality when I'm back and have a nice choice of clothes and a bit more luxury but it's so nice meeting new people and doing stuff I would never normally do. Tomorrow I'm going on a full day hike on Franz Josef glacier which could be quite challenging and I'm hoping I won't freak out. I'm sure it'll be worth it. Think it'll be an early night for me today, as it's been a bit of a struggle. We just went on a mini walk around to see glow worms which was quite nice (even though it was raining). They're really tiny but quite fascinating.
Hope all is well back in England x
