Lin & Phil - Out and About in the Big World...
Hey Peeps,
Just had a lovely flight from El Nido in a LET 410 UVP-E a little 19 seater turbo-prop - Lin managed to get motion sickness which was funny. I got very excited when i realised I could, with a strain, see over the pilots shoulder when we decended to Land (geeks - see pictures!).
Whilst in rustic little El Nido (Northern Palawan) we went on a splendid snorkelling trip round a few of the islands and lagoons in the Bacuit archipelago, We even saw a mahussive turtle swim past us on the way back to the town - Lin was ecstatic. We would have jumped in and swam with it had it not been for the scarry high waves our boat was just about sailing through (rather than sinking under - dont worry mum there were life jackets onboard!).
We also sat through terrential rain for 2 days whilst waiting for a typhoon to eventually pass right through the town! Pretty cool when it did at 4 in the morning when we were woken by howling winds opening our window shutters! This build up to the Typhoon had grounded flights and prevented us from going on another snorkelling trip so we were very keen to go on another once the storm passed! We did - well we went on a 'make mummy scream' type rollercoaster baot ride which culminated in one female passenger forcing the boat to go back in - probably a safe call which no-one objected to! The waves were getting very very big and a lot of water was splashing into the bobbing boat.
Managed to make the most of my 6 days left with beer prices cheeper than a can of coke! Weve also been listening to the worst karioke in the world (I think simon Cowel would have a field day making a Pop Idol show here!).
