Lin & Phil - Out and About in the Big World...
Took the bus from Penang to the cameron highlands. We were told it would take 4 hours - 6 hours later we arrived! I think i could have pushed that old bus up the hill faster than its engine managed - talk about snail pace! Found a small backpackers place called the Cameronian Inn which had every backpacker service you could imagine. He even took you out on jungle walks when you woke up! Not a bad idea considering the missing persons list we saw that was posted at the bus station up there! Lin made some new friends - this time with the 2 pet bunnies at the place we stayed.
The following morning, after a cold nights sleep (yer its pretty nippy up there), we met our tour guide who looked like a Malaysian 'Luigi' (from super mario). He showed us around the tea plantations and then we headed to the moss forests where everythings very mossy. We saw some rare cobra flowers and orchids growing. Later on we went to a butterfly farm which was amazing - apart from the obvious it also had deadly snakes, beetles, scorpions and stick insects (you know the ones that every primary school seems to have apart from these ones were massive - not so much a stick but more of a branch). We were fascinated by all these funny creatures.
After our tour we went on our own little Jungle walk. Twenty minutes later the sky opened up and we got soaked! Saw an impressive waterfall though.
Next day we took the best bus ever down to Kuala Lumpur. It was like business class seats on an airplane but on a bus instead. We're not taking no snail pace bus again after our journey upto the highlands!
