Grand canyon
Nightmare morning! Woke up at 7.45am on the dot. This was the time the bus was leaving. The girls had already left early hours of the
Morning for hot air-ballooning so we were without Len...who's been our alarm clock for the whole trip. Threw everything that was left out in our bags and ran to the bus. Made it just as Jack was getting back on the bus. Would have been a bit of a disaster if the bus had gone. We would be stranded in the Heat!!
We pikes the Girlies up from their hot air balloon ride. They strolled on the bus with their certificates, but looked pretty heavy on the eyes. We were definately going to see some nodding dog action on the way to Sedona. Both Len and Soph nod off all the time. Their heads just up and down all the time. Len has now been nicknamed 'Churchill'.
Liz got to play her songs on the way to Sedona... Jack did check with us that it wasn't any hardcore dance before allowing to play it. Haha. most people slept all the way, me and Liz just chatted with put new little mascot, Jay. The whole bus was woken by a loud wake up call song! Soph was pretty shocked, she didn't know where the hell she was. We had arrived in Sedona though so it was time to get off the coach! We decided against doing the jeep tour, so we had 4 hours walking around a very small town. Seemed like a Looooong time to wait but it was actually quite chilled and nice. We did some more window shopping on the cute little shops. Did all buy ourselves some funky little bracelets, mine stood for harmony, leb had love, sophs meant health, and of course Liz had one for fortune!
They had the most amazzzziiiingg fudge shop, my eyes lit up... We looked through the window and there was a HUGE fudge bar, probably bigger than me. It looked extremely tasty! We went for some lunch first though before going back to get ourselves a treat! A chocolate covered strawberry... YUM, that's all I can say.
Back on the bus to start Our journey to the GRAND CANYON! I was quite excited to see and experience it. It took us a few hours to get there so Jay and Dan joined us and we all played a few card games and chatted in the isle. Learned a few new games, I was definately getting a bit of beginners luck playing. We somehow got into a discussion about where toilet waste goes on planes, trains and buses. Soph somehow believed that on planes the waste just drops and falls through the sky. I couldn't believe it...we explained that planes fly over cities and the ocean and things, people would get really annoyed of something randomly hits them. But even then she believed that it didn't fall it dissolved. Let's just say we wouldn't want sophie to ever design a plane. People will just get hit with waste! Ewwww!
Before getting to the hotel we stopped to get our first glimpse of the canyon. It was pretty amazing! Got some snaps there before heading to camp. Driving through the campsite we saw all the little huts. Slightly worried that there were no showers there. This would have been a disaster for us! But we were worrying for nothing, the rooms were pretty cool, only issue was no air con. It was boiling in the rooms.
Had some free time, so we caught the free shuttle to get some alcohmahol. We all decided to have a gathering with the group in dans cabin. We played some drinking games. Few crazy people on tour... after a few drinks you see everyone in a different light. Haha. Played a game of I have never, a drink with Jesus and then ride the bus!! They play a little differently over here and I seemed to get picked on quite a bit. Not cool! A few guys from the other contiki tour joined us and when the everyone split and left me and Suzanne decided to walk one of the boys back to their cabin, no idea why. Seemed fun at the time but it was a bad idea on our part. On the way I picked up a traffic cone and decided to wear it on my head and guide them. I had no clue where we were going. After waking his room mate(who was not impressed. Oops) We left him there and walked back...well that's what we thought we were doing but we somehow got lost. How this happened I don't know...my sense of direction is top notch. Haha. Well we were lost in the grand canyon. A pretty big place, it was pitch black and we couldn't find the right route home.
45mins we were gone...oops. But we managed to find Jay walking around who guided us in the right direction. Got home at 2.15am just in time for bed!
8am wakeup ready for our helicopter ride over the Grand Canyon. Slightly hungover but I was very excited! Soph was a bit worse for wear, she found it quite hard o function. Liz was excited to see Jack (she is loving him at the moment, thinking of marrying him in Vegas). He's done it before haha.
We had to wait a while to get on our chopper and even when we did get on we had to wait longer as my headset wasn't working. Len rode upfront with Tyson the pilot, lucky girl! Me,Liz and Soph were sat behind with some weird French couple, who could not speak a word of English. He kept doing mime movements at us...it was so hard not to laugh. He even pointed at the floor before we'd even went in the, making signs to look down. We were on the floor!! Haha.
The flight was a bit shaky at first but AMAZING!!! The views were incredible. Had some cool music on the background too...a bit of 'My Way'. We were loving it. It was over so quickly though, but well worth it.
We got back at about 11am and had the rest of the day to ourselves...only problem was we were in the Grand Canyon and there's just NOTHING to do except look at the Canyon, which could get a bit boring for 7hours. We decided to talk a walk on one of the trails but stopped after 10 mins to sit down for for ageeeessss and then turned to go back. Great walk, kept us fit. Haha. Jay has become our little sidekick He's cool. And two girls from Manchester have joined our foursome, Suzanne and Danielle.
Got some food after our very long walk before going to chill in the sun for a few hours before heading to hopi point(the best spot) to watch the sun set over the Canyon. Sam was cracking us up with his conversations...he's just hilarious. He has the bushiest beard ever!! Before getting the shuttle there Liz and Soph had locked themselves out of their room. Luckily they'd left their window open, I had to climb through it to get the key back. I felt like a thief breaking in. We stopped off at the supermarket to get some hot chicken and rolls so we could have a Lil ol picnic watching the sun go down. The bus was packed , everyone was heading to the same place as us.
We were all scoffing the chicken while the sun was setting which was beautiful (the sunset not us scoffing chicken.) Len had a bit of a disaster with some coleslaw, spilled it everywhere even all over her foof ( this is the word we taught the Aussies and they love it for some
reason). After watching the stunning views we headed back to camp.
Early to bed tonight as we have the craziness of VEGAS tomorrow. It's going to be insane.
VEGAS BABY!! That's all I have to say.
Will hit you all up with our Vegas antics in a few days. If I dont suffer any memory loss that is!
Chow for now!
