So the gruesome twosome continue on, on their travels around the world. Haha. We got a cab to the metro station where we caught the tube to Pacific Coast Hwy. Our stop came an hour or so later. We were going to get a taxi from the station to the hotel but the station was in the middle of the road and there were no taxis about. We were looking round, we looked like lost puppies and stood out like a sore thumb with our bags of luggage. A guy from the train came up to us and just said 'girls, you need to get indoors now! It's not safe around here for you'. We were lucky there was a hotel right opposite so we ran there and called a cab.
We asked the driver why it was such a rough area, he said people just steal and fight with anyone. We could see driving passed that all the houses had bars on their doors and windows with graffiti sprayed everywhere. We were definitely downtown LA. Somewhere we won't be visiting again, that's for sure!
After that little scare we got to our hotel... Not the luxury we have been used to, but it had a bed that's all that matters! Not sure why it's called the Ocean View hotel though...I see a road from our window, not the ocean. Slightly deceiving name really isn't it? Ha! The beach is just around the corner though! Great news!
On check in there were dominoes vouchers on the counter! We instantly knew what our dinner was going to be! Yummmmyyy! When it came they had only brought one dip! This wasn't good news as Liz need about 4 different dips for one slice of pizza haha! I called them back and they instantly came back with a huge bag of dips and a complimentary bottle of coke! I might be complaining to dominoes more often, they bring extra goodies! After food we got to sleep! There were no alarms set, it was going to be a MONSTER lie in! First time in two weeks.
So 11am we managed to get ourselves out of bed...we were out by 12pm. We decided to hop on a bus to Laguna Beach. After checking google maps it said it would take 30 minutes by car... Being the idiot that I am I didn't click public transport, so it actually took us closer to two hours to get there. We met some 'interesting' people on our journey though. Two of them were arguing over where was best for us to go. It was crazy! We just wanted a beach and some food. Another guy just told us to get off at quite a small beach but it was LUSH! As we were getting off he asked our names...who asks for people's names as we are leaving and will never see him again. I'm sure the name thing is an introduction not a goodbye. Ah well he was a friendly chap. Haha. There was a supermarket just across the road from where we got off so we got our nibbles and went to the beach.
It was 3pm at this point and we wanted to be back by 6.30ish to get ready for the nightlife of Orange County! So it was an hour at the beach before the LOOONNNGGG bus ride back to sunset beach. There were seagulls everywhere!! My worst nightmare. I was too scared to eat my sandwich. They gathered around us and we were surrounded. We had to move...I was very uncomfortable sat there being watched by a load of seagulls.
Some 'interesting' people on this bus ride back as well! A man next to me instantly knew we were tourists...he said 'so where you guys from?' are we that obvious?? We were chatting for a little while. He had a $2.5million house. What?? He also had a son...shame we weren't here longer, I would have loved to be introduced. Haha! A lady got on the bus half way through our journey, she looked quite classy but she stood and stared. I wasn't quite sure why until she said 'well somebody will have to get up!'. There were loads of spare seats at the back and even a spare right next to Liz, yet she still wanted one of us to get up. She did sit next to Liz in the end...Liz was planning on telling her she had a sprained ankle so she couldn't get up! Ha! The little lady was absolutely smashed, the smell
of alcohol was so overpowering we could have probably got drunk off it. No wonder she needed to sit down, she could barely stand. Thank god she got off a few stops later.
We got in and made my pasta pot in the microwave that we have in our room. After making it I realised there was no cutlery so I had to practically drink it, it did not look appetising but it was actually quite tasty. Just wish I had a spoon or something, I looked like a tramp eating food. Well it filled a little hole before starting on the vodka!
When we were ready we went for a quick drink at Dons(the bar just around the corner from us) we were the only people in the bar, so we had our own personal service. Good times! He made us Dons special Hurricane cocktail...it was divine! So we shared another before heading down to Main St. That's where the partying was going down!
Our taxi driver was hilarious, he was telling us all the cool places to go. His name was Eddie, we were on first name terms after a 20 minute drive. He gave us his card and said he could get us into a club(apparently awesome to go) the next night for free. We checked how far away it was and it would have cost us $38 each way. Think we'll pass on that one, thanks Eddie.
Sharkeys, the bar we went to was pretty cool, no dancefloor though. Apparently you were supposed to dance anywhere. The club was also filming some dudes music video. Not sure what's going on with us and music videos but we seem to keep finding them. We are just destined to be famous haha!!
We danced the night away before heading back to the hotel. Awesome night, but it was definitely time to go to dreamland.
Slightly hungover we facetimed the lovely Simone. Was lovely to speak to her, it's been a month so we caught up on all the gossip. After that we head out to the beach, not Laguna Beach today we just went to the one across the road. There were TV crews everywhere. Apparently some guy has gone missing in the sea. The current is sooooo strong out there it would be quite easy to get swept out to sea... So we stayed away.
We grabbed some lunch at a small diner before chilling on the beach. Liz tried to teach me how to do a cartwheel...I just can't do it...it's hard! Haha! It was sooooo hot I left the beach with bright pink bum cheeks! Ouch! More suncream next time I think.
After a few hours we got a bit bored so we hopped on the bus again down to Huntington Beach to have a little wander. Got some crépes at a cute little restaurant called ihop before taking a walk on the pier. As we walked across it a guy on one of those OAP buggy things drove passed. An old man sitting on a bench started shouting 'Hey slow down, this isn't Nascar! Slow down, you got a hot date or something?...I don't think so!' it was hilarious! Me and Liz were just giggling all the way down the pier. The next thing we know a woman approaches us and told us that those guys were part of a prank for the TV show 'off their rockers' and that they had been filming our reaction. We had to sign a disclaimer for them to use it. So we will be on TV in January haha! We are just all over the TV at the moment.
We went back to the bus stop to head back to the hotel, only to find some guy there colouring on the bench. He was dressed in a big coat which he had painted, Ugg boots(also painted) and a hat which he'd drawn pictures on and put seagull feathers in the top. Got a mental
Picture yet? He was just a beautiful sight, and guess what he came over and introduced himself! His name....Pogo Stick! Instantly knew he was crazy! He told us he was the local artist and that he was modelling some of his art. Apparently 'Jesus is God' painted on his coat is art! Well as the discussion went on we learned that he was a man of many talents. Not only was he an artist but he was also a singer, actor, director, script writer, a skydiver, a surfer, a teacher, he was friends with Clint Eastwood(who hadn't read his script yet) and apparently next year he will be the mayor. Where has this guy come from?? Looneyville!! The worst thing was he was waiting for the bus as well, and the bus was running an hour late so we were stuck with the nut job. I suppose he entertained us slightly...we started to humour him and play along with it after a while. I told him we would be American citizens next year and we would vote for him to be mayor. He told me that meant a lot and he appreciates it from the bottom if his heart! It was hysterical.
After waiting and waiting and....waiting the bus finally came and we were on our way back to the hotel. Phew! Time for pogo stick to hop on and annoy the next victim. Bloody loon!
Tonight will be a nail painting, eyebrow plucking girlie night in, so we are ready and looking fresh for a weekend in the Hollywood hills.
Time to leave the surfing town of Orange County and head off to party with the celebs..I'm sure it will be a weekend to remember. It is Hollywood after all!
Any gossip you will be the first to hear. Chat to y'all when the weekend is over!
