We finally arrive in Sydney after a gruelling over night greyhound. We meet Jo in the hostel as she had to travel ahead of us as we couldn't all get on the same greyhound, Jo's own fault as she booked it days after we all did!
We find a very tired Jo who ventured to the Opera House on her own that morning to try and waste some time until we arrived. When we had settled in to our hostel we headed for our retreat....McDonalds as there wasn't one in rehab! We then take a nap to prepare for Danny and Spread's 21st birthday celebrations! They are the two people we met in 1770!
So we head over to Bondi that evening to have a few pre drinks in Danny and Spreads apartment. The goon and tunes are flowing well when the cops show up! Our first dealings with the police since we started travelling! We send a very drunk Danny to deal with the police...he some how manages to get rid of them! It put an end to the party though and we head out for our first night in the city!!
We arrive at a club called Chinese Laundry...weird name but meant to be a great club! We queue for what feels like an eternity to be told we wont get in as it is at full capacity! So we head off to scruffy murpheys...a 24 hour bar! Now this is what we are talking about! We have a great time and finally emerge from the bar at 5 am in the morning to daylight...very confusing! Jo heads off back to Danny and Spreads for more drinks...Katherine and Panda head for the old fast food again before heading to bed!
Finally awake later that day, still very confused with timings! As you can imagine the next day is spent nursing hangovers and sleeping! The next few evenings are spent pretty much the same except for exploring the many bars in Sydney!
CHRISTMAS EVE! We are all a little bit axcited about being in Sydney but also very upset not to be with our familys...we soon get over that though and head down to Side Bar (a club right beneath our hostel) with some friends we had met on our Whitsundays. We all get a little merry and start the phone calls home for christmas, sorry guys! We head home quite early as we dont want to spoil christmas day!
CHRISTMAS DAY! BONDI BEACH
We wake up to a glass of champagne and some cake, nicely provided by our hostel! We then board the party bus headed to Bondi Beach! It didn't look too nice in the morning, a bit cloudy but when we arrived the sun was out in full force! We are all dressed up in santa hats in the sweltering heat...nice!
We get to the bar order some drinks...its 12am at this point....then we go get our christmas dinner...not quite the same as mum's cooking...We are treated to a cold piece of chicken on the bone, some coleslaw without mayonaise and some pasta...mmmm! I know I would rather have had my mums christmas dinner...
Anyway we don't care we are in Bondi and its christmas day! The DJ's are pumping out some tunes and the drinks are going down nicely...happy hour hits and the drinks are definately flowing..
Our friends from the Whitsundays enter the miss bikini competition and one of them comes second..so we have to celebrate that as well of course!
The day is spent partying on some grass, listening to DJ's while drinking cheap wine and vodka...what more could we want! This is also the day we meet our great housemate Phillippa..however we don't yet realise it!
The night comes to an end at 10pm..but by this point I think we are just about done anyway! We all head to the golden arches...yes another McDonalds on christmas day...what a great christmas feast we have treated ourselves to! Jordan and Tom decide to head back to the hostel at this point while Jo, Panda and Kathering decide to go back to Danny and Spreads for more drinks...
The walk home consists of drunken phone calls home to wish the parentals a happy chirstmas, crazy that they are just getting up and we are drunk and just finishing our celebrations...sorry again guys for the drunken calls!
Kathering leaves to go home while Jo and Panda carry on. Jo makes herself a lovely skirt out of christmas paper and gives us a dance around the living room! Thanks Jo! Panda and Jo finally make it home at about 7am Boxing Day morning! What a great christmas day...we are sure we will never have one quite like it!!
Boxing day is spent nursing those hangovers again...just to go out in the evening and do it all over again!
Our extended family finally arrive in Sydney a few days before New Year and so we go to see the sights with them and check out good spots for new years eve to watch the fireworks! We head to the Opera House and Harbour Bridge to find a good spot! Just to let you all know the Opera House appears yellow in real life not white like it does on the television....
The boys head over to a place called Cremorne Point, it seems like a good spot so they decide to camp there and save the spot as apparantly you have to get there really early to make your teritory! Put it this way, last year there was 4.5 million people all crowded around the Opera House and Harbour Bridge!
NEW YEARS EVE: So we head over to the spot at 8am in the morning! We have a great view, we are facing the Harbour Bridge and Opera House...well done boys! We spend the day drinking and eating..nothing exciting really! The 9pm fireworks go off and we all get very excited...we carry on drinking the goon and await the midnight fireworks..
MIDNIGHT! The fireworks were amazing...so much better in real life! Again the phone calls start to the parentals to wish them happy new year! Once again..sorry! After that it is a struggle to get home as we are the other side of the river and there are no ferries...hmm...lets put it this way we had a very long walk and bus ride home!
New years day is spent nursing hang overs and eating our body weight in food!!
We certainly had a different christmas and new year...we all missed home but had an amazing time which made up for that any day.....
