We are in Copocabana at the moment on the shores of Lake Titicaca. Lake Titicaca is the highest navigable lake in the world. Its strange though its so big it looks like the sea and it seems like we are at sea level. Still struggling with the altitude, yesterday we climbed a hill to watch the sunset and got our of breath after 2 mins of walking. We had to take our time, real lack of oxygen around here. So more sunset photos to come.....
We are staying at a sweet little place called La Cupula, run by a very friendly German man. Monica gave me an article about it from the Guardian sometime last year. I've carried it all over the world with me and never thought wed actually be here. We have a little appartment with our own garden and hammocks! It actually has heating and a shower thats warm. The other night we sat in their lounge and they brought us food on little trays. Food was amazing and less then a McDonald's.
The weather is fantastic during the day and we are looking rather rosy! But at night it is so cold, last night we had to put 3 hot water bottles in our bed.
It is so relaxed and chilled here, a bit different to the craziness of La Paz. We have been pretty lazy and getting up late then just eating. Yesterday we just went into a restaurant for a slice of cake and some wine. Their lake trout is amazing and so fresh.
Still travelling with Simon and Nicola. Its Simon's birthday tomorrow so we are venturing over to Isla del Sol. On the evening we are going out for a slap up meal and maybe some chocolate fondue (a speciality at our hotel). We left Katie and Jess in a 5 star hotel in La Paz, Jess wasn't feeling well so wanted a little luxury. Hope you are feeling better soon!
On Thursday we are heading over to Peru. We can see Peru from here and tried to pedalo to it the other day. But our little legs wouldn't pedalo us that far. We will have to get the bus.
Katie.
