Slept really soundly and woke at 6.20, 7.20 or 8.20 depending on which clocks we looked at, turns out it was 8.20 which was good because we'd had a massive long sleep..but bad because we were on a 'strict 9am departure' according to the timeline we'd imposed on ourselves.
After a brief panic we decided, who cares we're on holiday let's chill. So we had breakfast and played on the park until the kids were completely shattered.
At 11am we set off and quickly found ourselves entering The Netherlands. We stopped for fuel and, since ed was asleep, kayla came into the shop with me for a nosey. All the foreign brands made her eyes light up and she conned me into a Belgian Waffle (about 20mins to late to be official), chocolate milk and a pink cake for Ed.
We found ourselves in Germany before we knew it, largely because we missed the sign, and quickly dealt with towns such as Essen, Gladback and Dortmund which were very industrial looking. Germany opened up near Munster to be a lovely country full of forests, fields and cars in corporate fleet colours only.
This was marked to be our longest journey but the first half went by pretty fast. The kids were in good spirits and we stopped for a lovely lunch lounging in the sun while parked in one of mainland Europes many road side parking and picnic sites.
By this point kayla had taken almost 300 photos on the camera Uncle John and Rox bought for her, can't wait for them to sit through that slide show, luckily she ran out of room for the day.
The second half of the trip was slower going but we stopped frequently and reached the camp site just after sun set at nearly 8pm, unfortunately the reception shut at 6pm, which we'd have hit if we left at 9am, but hey-ho it's not like we need to find alternative accommodation :)
So here we are parked up at Wulfener Hals, we're the other side of the fence from our actual reserved plot so are without our electric, water and wifi but it just means we are using some of our reserves and tea had change to egg on toast but it was worth it for the play time in Belgium and the exhausted happy kids for the journey.
Wulfener Hals is on Fehmarn Island, connected to Germany via a bridge and to Denmark via a ferry. We've now travelled approx 880miles of our 1400mile trip to Stockholm, tomorrow we will cover about 100yards in total as we go through the gate and park up where we are meant to be, other than that it's to be a day spent on camp.
