We actually got the ferry we planned to get this morning, admittedly it pretty much departed as we drove on but still we made it. I'm writing this from Munster Germany not Sevenum Netherlands which tells you that the whole day wasn't as planned but the ferry was spot on.
It was really busy on the ferry but we had 300 Danish krona to spend so we went round the shops then sat out on deck watching the last of Scandinavia disappear.
North East Germany isn't pleasant. They're doing major roadworks for miles so it's reduced speed limit and really busy especially round Hamburg and Bremen. Further to the west it's better and the snow showers gave way to sunshine which helped, still we had lots of breaks playing in picnic areas and were due to reach camp at 6.30pm.
Near Osnabruick we decided to change our plans and find a camp nearby, might as well make the most of the sunshine. We chose Munster because of the reviews in our 'Alan Rogers guide to camping in Europe' but also because the idea of staying somewhere called Munster was hilarious...simple things!!
This care free attitude certainly paid off as we got to experience driving through German city life before pulling into a gorgeous little site. Theres loads for the kids, the bathrooms are lovely and they even have craft workshops and a cute little shop. We made tea as the kids played out in the park and on their scooters (ed more off it than on but he doesn't break easily), then all went for a walk.
All that's left to do is work out what this change in plan has done to our trip tomorrow which has to end at a camp site near Calais...but regardless it was worth it.
