Well we decided to try not to drive into Sydney as we'd heard it isn't very easy and go round teh edge and stay at a campsite where it's easy to get into the city by public transport. We managed to go around the city but I still got stressed driving towards the end adn was screeching up hills in 2nd gear as cars whizzed past! We found a campsite really quite close to the city which was good. It even had a pool, which was really exciting until me and Brett got in it and nearly had a heart attack. Much colder than the sea, neither of us have ever been in anything colder. I did some swimming and even after 10 mins or so it was still cold. When we got out it took about 2 hrs to warm up. Wasn;t going back in there. We had a BBQ and then went into the city. We went to some Irish pub and saw some of the Australia v Wales rugby and then we were tolf to go to King's Cross cos that's where all the good places are. Well there were prostitutes and weirdos everywhere. Even on the train a man was laughing at Brett saying 'I took the drugs and drank that beer and then what happened?'. It really is the most bizarre place. We went to a bar called Zachery's and then to Candys which played weird music though Louise had a natural ability to dance to it! We got a taxi home which some mad Japanese man who excliamed 'ohhhh it's a big one' when Brett gave him a $100 note.
Next day we went to Darling Harbour on a cruise that was really good and we got to see the bridge and Sydney Opera House properly for the 1st time. I enver realised how close together they were and they do look good. We went into the Opera House and foudn the cheapest thing going to watch on Tues night, some play for a tenner about Japanese Culture!! We also booked in to do the bridge climb the following day where you get to climb the arc of the bridge. Should be nice and scary! Then we went to the aquarium which is the best in the world and much better than the Kelly Tarlton one we went to in Auckland! There were massive sharks and stingrays and all the cast of Finding Nemo in the barrier reef section. Also a Crocodile that was a man eating one, that was massive. Looking forward to going to Steve Irwin's zoo to see some more!I decided I do really like Sydney, by far the best city I've been to since being away and the best place in Australia. We saw some Aborigenies playing the digeredoo all painted up and half naked! We picked up a chicken on the way home and made a nice Thai Green Curry Stir Fry.?
Had a really good nights sleep as it's actually above 0 degrees and we aren't on a slope! In the morning we headed to Bondi Beach which was really nice, and we sat on the beach for a bit, the 1st busy beach we've been to, and watched loads of surfers. Then we went off to do the bridge climb as the light was beginning to fade around 4.30. The greeter was hilarious and a fashion icon. We also enjoyed the novelty of the cunning new breathiliser test (all you do is say 1-5). Then we met the enthusiastic woman guide and the 12 of us got kitted out, there was a man from Watford on it with us!!We put on the weird suits and all the accessories and got bolted on to the bridge, so you can;t go astray. The only scary bit was the beginning where the metal frame you walk on is see through and looks straight down onto the roads. Also there are 4 ladders you have to climb which requires great concentration. Once on the actual arc it wasn't scary at all!! It was pretty dark when we started and pitch black at teh end, I'm glad we did it in hte dark as it looked really good. We got some pictures taken by the guide woman that we bought afterwards. Then we went for dinner where I had a blue eyed cod which was very nice. The seats on the trains flip so you can either sit facing teh people in front of in rows all facing the same way. We were just about to sit down adn some man flipped it over.
Next day we went back into the city and marvelled at all teh Aussies in their tights, coats and scarves freezing in the bitter winter while I was in shorts! We went for a look around the shops and I got some new earrings after I lost one of my Japanese ones that I got because I'd lost teh ones I brought with me. Then we headed to the Sydney Opera House to see DasSHOKU HORA! We stopped 1st in the bar though for a cocktail, a delicious Dirty Disco Carpet. We went into the theatre and the show began!!!!!!! It was absolutely hilarious, one Japanese woman dressed asd God knows what and 2 Australian men prancing around singing/dancing/screaming, and then it got even weirder! I think it was about how Japanese culture is changing due to Westernisation adn globalisaion but it was WEIRD. I couldn't stop laughing at one point when I wasn't supposed to be! NMost of the symbolism and stuff washed straight over me but I enjoyed the entertainment! I even thought she was talking Jap when she was talking English at one point! Bizarre, nevermind at least I can say I've seen something in the Sydney Opera House even if it was rubbish and only cost a tenner!!!!
