Hot, hot, hot!!!! Delighted, we jumped out of bed and headed for our pool.
The morning sped by, and we decided to go to Luciagnano d'Asso for lunch. An incredibly old man served us in the smoking heat, bringing out 2 plastic plates and napkins. Then, he came back with forks and knives. Then he brought bread. Then he brought 2 juice glasses for our wine. We felt terrible watching him go back and forth, back and forth in the searing sun. Then, he brought out... a delightful lunch of five different cheeses, fresh picked tomatoes, a variety of luncheon meats and cantaloupe slices. We devoured the meal, while a lively family of Italians chatted next to us through a vine wall, occasionally bringing their small children over to meet two cats who had decided to make the shade cast by our table their choice for siesta.
After our meal, we headed back for an afternoon of pool time. Unfortunately, except for the first day, none of our neighbours were at the pool at the same time as us, so the pool was ours alone to enjoy once more.
At the suggestion of one of our neighbours, we spent our last Tuscan night at an Asciano restaurant courtyard, followed by a walk through the quiet streets of the Old Town. Our meal was lovely, though a bit pricy, but we knew it was the price we had to pay to totally enjoy our final supper in Tuscany.
