After our usual 10am departure, we ventured into the town of Echuca for a look around. It's a great town, very well preserved from the mid 1850's. It's on the Murray River, and there are lots of restored paddle steamers about taking people on cruises like the one we did in Mildura a few days ago. The old main street has many of the original buildings and it was nice to see a couple of Drysdale horses pulling a carriage. We enjoyed a wander up and down the town and found a nice cafe for brunch.
On the road again, we drove south-east through Victoria - lots of winery and orchard type areas, still following the Murray River, and stopped at Yarrawonga for lunch. The park on the riverbank had a waterslide, whilst oddly placed, was good fun and quite cheap for a handful of rides. There was also a river pool, so Renee & Eamon enjoyed themselves until we dragged them away late afternoon. We made it to a nice spot just out of Wodonga called Ebden.
The caravan park is on Lake Hume, and we scored a riverfront ensuite site, however, due to the drought, there's no water to be seen - very funny! Renee & Eamon enjoyed the late evening on the jumping pillow, the trampoline, and Mum & Dad joined in for a swim in the great resort style pool, overlooking the part of the lake with water in it, and lots of boats coming and going with skiers, etc. With only a couple of days to go till the end of our trip, we're trying to enjoying every minute we have left.
