First up we all had freshly hand squeezed orange juices, as we had 12 oranges to get rid of before entering the Fruit Fly Zone today. We finally departed around 9.30am with another lengthy drive ahead of us. We'd heard about the Hay Plains, and they were just as Dad described - flat plains everywhere for a couple of hundred kms. Not a great road, so we had a stop at Balranald for coffee, then onto Mildura for a nice relaxing lunch in the park (with more fruit and vegetables ingested).
We arrived at the Quarantine Station just over the SA border, and handed over just a small quantity of goods, surprisingly allowed to keep the honey. It was great to arrive soon after at Big4 Renmark Riverfront Caravan Park - we stayed here 12 months ago. It's the biggest caravan park we have ever stayed in, with about 50 cabins and 200 camp/caravan sites. It fronts onto the Murray River and we have a riverfront site, with only a few people around us. The serenity....
The waterpark and pool are highlights here, so Mum, Renee & Eamon head straight there soon after we arrive, while Dad sets up for the next few days.
