As usual, the caravan park had emptied out by the time Mum and Renee woke up, but we did pretty well to leave Yass by 9am. Heading up the Sturt Highway, we stopped at Wagga Wagga for a very quick morning snack - we had to get to Narrandera by 1pm as Dad had to join a work conference call - we made it there by 12.55! Narrandera Park is great - it has the cricket oval in the middle, with a few playgrounds around the outside including a flying fox, skate park and lots of picnic tables - we had lunch there, as well as an ice-block as it was around 37 degrees.
We got coffees and juices and got back on the road, arriving at Hay Caravan Park around 4pm - it's a lovely place. We decided on an ensuite drive through site. It was now about 39 degrees so we all had a swim in the pool.
We had a little problem however - Mum and Dad had forgotten that no fruit and vegetables can be brought into SA from NSW!! Dad had gone grocery shopping a few days ago, and we received some beautiful mangoes and cherries from Nanna & Uncle Vincent for Christmas. The fruit was great and much better than our normal car snacks. Mum cooked a whole bag of potatoes and carrots, mashed them and stored them in the freezer - not sure how it'll taste defrosted though! We also froze a couple of cut-up oranges.
