With Rich being absent for our snorkeling trip yesterday, we decided to make today a good one. We hired kayaks and snorkels and went off exploring the coves on our own. After about an hour we arrived at a paradise cove hidden between the limestone stacks....just beautiful. We surfaced our kayaks onto the beach and hit the Andaman Sea with our snorkels. We didn't realise how strong the current was as we drifted out to sea looking at the interesting fish around us. We only realised when we tried to swim back to shore, it was hard work. Officially the worst feeling ever, swimming to shore and feeling like you are getting further away. Our next challenge was to hit the open sea, dodging any boats and the swells they left behind. We eventually made it to Monkey Beach after a tough effort. This time it was Jenny and Rich the monkeys were playing with after they fell asleep with a bag of nuts at the side of them. Come on, let's face it, it was always going to happen. Snorkeling this time was good but tricky as we had to try and weave through the shallow reef. Waiting to see an amazing sunset, we decided at sea would be better than on the beach so we jumped in the kayaks once again and headed around the corner. We still had a little time so we tied out kayaks together and left our destiny to the currents as we laid back and enjoyed the last of the sun and peace. The sunset was one to remember as well as the near capsize cause by Rich taking a selfie of him and Matt.
To finish the day off nicely, a real Phi Phi night out was on the cards for Rich and Jen. Buckets, fire shows, beer pong, dancing to 'generic house' music (as the Essex boys would call it) and fried chicken. It must have been a good night as 3 out of 4 of us forgot going to the last bar.
