Complete jet setter mode was engaged today as we caught two flights before 2pm. Sandakan - Kota Kinabalu Kota Kinabalu - Singapore We arrived in Singapore early evening and met the two funniest hostel owners yet. At the Lotus hostel, just passed Chinatown, we were subjected to two more nights in dorm rooms due to the high prices of the city. It was clean, tidy and friendly. Within 20 mins we had understood the transport network from our hostel and headed to China town by bus to get the connecting MRT to bay front. This is where the Marina Bay Sands Hotel (MBS) is located and the Gardens By The Bay. Our tight schedule meant that we were cutting it fine to make the two lights shows of the night but we frantically ran a round and made it. The first was set on the marina, with the city back drop in front and the boat shaped colossal hotel behind us. It was like nothing we had seen before. They used mists of water to create huge screens over the water in which they project images accompanied by music, lighting, water effects and fire. What more could they do. The whole marina was used with some of the lighting beaming from buildings way in the distance. Once this show had finished we ran to beat the crowds to the Supertree light show. Once again the architecture and innovation that is flooding the city was showcased at its best. It's hard to explain but check out the photos of the Supertrees at night. It was like walking around an extraterrestrial world with these huge neon, technicolour phenomenons pulsating with life and energy, engaging you with wonder as we laid on the floor of the park, staring up at the show in awe. By the time we had caught the MRT and found our bus back to the hostel it was pretty late. 11pm. So we crept in to our room, phone torch pointed at the ground, in an attempt to not disturb anyone who may be asleep. No one was in. Bonus. As we were just nodding off the hostel owner shows a guy around the room and hostel at full volume at 12am but the guy never came to bed.... M & C xxxx
