Today was another great day. We started early to catch the early morning activity. We were lucky to catch an active lioness with her 2 cubs which was phenomenal. The other main activity was catching the migration of zebra and wildebeest in various spots. It was amazing watching all the hoards of animals moving on the same direction across the plain. We caught them in watering spots and on the open plain.
With 7 of us in the land rover, we've all had opportunities to try the different spots. There really aren't any bad spots. The top raises up so we call all get a good view of the wildlife.
We kept to a morning drive, then had lunch at ngorongoro entrance, then drove to the campsite. It was good to get there at about 3:00 and have some downtime. Pete and I "hired" some local Maasai to take us to a scenic spot looking into the caldera. They all had stuff to sell. I bought about 6 things for $20. Local crafts.
After dinner, we sat around a campfire (first and only) and thanked the 4 crew who looked after us. We gave them our tips today pooled together. It was nice.
The safari has gone smoothly. We've run into to some Dutch travelers who had much different experience; slow driving, old vehicle with one or 2 flats a day, etc. They spent about the same travel today, but didn't get in until 7, much later than us. Luckily their guides have been good.
That's about it for now. Tomorrow is our last safari day. About 4 hours in ngorongoro which should be plenty of time according to Deo. Then back to Arusha. It is sad to see this end so quickly.
