Having a very noisy road outside our open window wasn't ideal, but we managed to sleep OK. The previous campsite had been under the flight path for Luxemboug Airport. I wonder what tonight's campsite will have in store?
We had breakfast included with our room so we were nearly first there at 7.30 am so we could make an early start. There was still gear tweaking to do but we waved the tandem riders off at about 9 am and we drove off at the same time. 5 minutes later we stopped at traffic light and who should be crossing the road on the tandem? Another wave goodbye and hopefully we will see them in Geneva on Thursday.
It was a long journey today we got held up for ages with road works and we watched the temperature gauge on the car soar to 40 degrees outside. There was a misty haze over the mountains as we entered Switzerland and had a panic to find some Swisss money to pay the road toll. It was late afternoon before we got to our campsite which is outside Geneva in France.
The wind got up as we were pitching the tent and we thought we might get soaked but only a few drops of rain fell but the temperature became more comfortable.
The campsite is lovely with first class facilities and with our fridge was delivered to our tent. What luxury until we realised we hadn't got the right adaptor, so a trip to the supermarket was required. The village is a typical small French village and I wasn't expecting much of a supermarket, but "past the church and walk down the hill" (as instructed) we found a huge modern shopping mall with large supermarket, so we won't go short of anything and the family are all coming to visit so we had better stock the fridge with wine and beer! I was also able to replenish my toiletries which I had accidentally left in Luxemboug, another little disaster yesterday.
It looks as though the temperature peaked today so hopefully we can enjoy our five days here. I don't think I have ever been camping for so long, I hope I survive!
