Hi everyone,
This is our last day in Panama... we jet off for Rio tonight and should get to Rio early tomorrow morning. So what have we done...
Well, we went out for a meal the other night to a pub just down the road. It so happened that a football match was on between Argentina and Panama City and all the Panamanians seem to go to this pub to watch the matches - so many people that there were big traffic jams outside where they had abandoned their cars. There was also a TV crew which we thought was odd. Anyway, come half time and we were looking at the TV and thought that place looked familiar. It was the pub we were having dinner in and the camera was on us... so that was our claim to fame... we have been on live TV! It was pretty cool.
We spent a day at Taboga Island which was great. We took a boat trip out in the morning and it took about 45 mins to get there. We lay about the beach for an hour or so then went for a walk through the only town there and only road on the island. We then watched a massive storm over Panama City. On the boat ride back, my sun burn began to come up (and it was a cloudy day!) Its pretty bad!
Today Victor took us to see the ruins of Panama old city. This was the original Panama city before pirates burnt it down. All that really remained was an old Spanish church and a few ruined buildings.
We are now eagerly awaiting the regular afternoon thunder storm which is fast approaching which will cool us down before going to the airport.
