The bed at the Stratosphere is way too comfy.
We went to McDonalds this morning for cheap coffee and fruit parfaits for breakfast. Free WiFi there is the best thing - $15 an hour for Internet in hotels and the few internet cafes that are around. Ridiculous. We were in there quite a while calling home and doing some research on our next destinations etc.
We caught the bus down to Monte Carlo to carry on looking around the hotels where we left off yesterday. Then we went into New York New York. Can't believe the lengths they go to, to create these. They have a Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building, Chrysler Building and lots of others, plus they have a roller-coaster running around it. And the buildings are big. Actually, the last two are hotels, not the same size as the real things obviously. Then, inside, it's themed like you're in the city with a street area that has pizza places etc. Really cool in there.
We shared a Panda Express again - cheap and huge portions so it's good value for us.
Then we went to M&Ms World! 4 floors of M&M sweets, clothes, kitchen stuff, toys. There's a part where they have all the different colours in separate tubes, so we got some of them and we got some pretzel ones too. Those are really nice. Hopefully they bring them out in the UK!
Then we went for a look around Coca-Cola World. Same thing as M&Ms World.
There's always people dressed up in Vegas as movie characters like Spiderman etc, wanting you to take pictures with them. We saw one guy dressed up like that guy from the Hangover with the permed hair and he had a baby carrier on his front. Hilarious!
There's lots of free shows to see in Las Vegas, and the first one we went to see was at the Bellagio. In the lake, out at the front of it, they have this UNBELIEVABLE water fountain show. They play old songs by people like Frank Sinatra, and there's loads of fountains that "dance" to the music. It's so good to watch. We watched 2 shows, which are on every 15 minutes for 5 minutes.
The rest of the shows really have to be good to beat that.
Next up, Volcano at Mirage. They have this rocky feature surrounded by water and trees, then the "volcano" erupts (water with red light!), they play all this voodoo type music and there's lots of blasts of flames. It's good, but nowhere near in the same league as Bellagio Fountains.
Last on our list today, Sirens of TI at Treasure Island. That's a really good set they have there. There's a big pirate ship in water and then the walkway is like a wooden dock. They put on this live show with "actors". The show's about basically about a female ship versus a male ship. They have canon blasts, lots of music and dancing, and it's pretty funny. Really good for free anyway.
Not bad, a bit of free entertainment for a couple of hours.
Everyone walks around with bottles of beer and yards of cocktails here. I think it's one of, if not, the only place you can walk the streets drinking alcohol in America.
We went into a bit of a dingy casino called O'Sheas for a while. They had cheap beers! I kept doing bets without actually putting money down and was doing well...
I just don't know most of these games, and don't have the money to risk losing by gambling.
A bit later we walked through Flamingo Casino and I put a $10 bet on red to come in, and won. I've got a method for playing roulette. I keep an eye out for a streak of black or red, or a streak of odds or evens. If there's been say 4 in a row, then it's a good bet that the opposite will come in, e.g. a streak of 4 Reds means it's likely that black will come in. It's just when that nasty zero comes into play sometimes. If you lose, then you have to double your bet next time. Lose again, then double again.
I haven't put my money where my mouth is exactly, but I've won loads of times in my head...honestly, ask Therese, I've won loads...
We ended up walking back to New York New York to a bar called Coyote Ugly. Pretty good in there too. They actually had Coyotes up on stage getting the crowd going, singing and dancing. Stayed in there for a while and had a couple of drinks. So expensive though at $8 (£5.50) a bottle!
Then we went to a piano bar in New York New York. There were two guys singing requested songs. Had to pay them to sing your request though. Some people were giving them $20 (££14) for one song! Not made of money. We had a drink in there and called it a night...2.30am by the time we got to bed.
