We left Vang Vieng at 10am to go on a 'VIP' bus, it just means a big bus there's nothing VIP about it - although it was luxury in comparison to other transport we've used!
The views on the way to Luang Prabang are genuinely breath taking. I took far too many pictures but I never want to forget the beauty of traveling up a mountain on those roads. Children were playing in the road and on the edge of the mountains were houses had been built. Old lady's were climbing up the mountain with leaves and wood on their back, as were men. It just felt so natural and free up there. Obviously I had a few health and safety issues with the children playing on a cliff edge but you kind of get used to the fact that it's their way of life, the children have grown up there and it would be massively inappropriate for me to run over to them and 'save' them?!... anyway as the large bus weaved around the sharp bends and further up the mountain the views got better. We were a little scared at some points when the bus accelerated around a blind bend only to find a lorry driver had pulled over to have a sleep in his truck. As the roads are 1 car/bus/lorry width it was a sharp break and slow drive passing the lorry. The bus driver made sure only half of his tyres went over the cliff edge!!!! I carried on reading my book. Lee shut his eyes and listened to his music.
