Finally we arrived in Luang Prabang and jumped in a tuk tuk. Nat, one of the bus gang, had emailed me with a good guesthouse so we used that to tell the driver where we wanted to go. It turns out at the time we arrived there's a night market on the road so we got dropped off, with our bags outside the market and began to make our way through. The market sold loads of clothes, bags, jewelry, statues, paintings... Each stall was on the floor with a white square gazibo above. A pretty little market! We took a turn down a side street and bumped into Julian, another bus gang member. He showed us the way to a guesthouse that had a room free. We checked in for 100,000kip then met up with the rest of the bus gang. The majority were staying at the same guesthouse. Max, Nat and Julian (our Argentine friends) were staying across the road. Gareth, Penny, Hayley and Tracy had got an earlier minibus to Luang Prabang the same day as us. They said it was terrifying. Apparently the minibus was ruthless. The driver ran over a dog whilst speeding around the mountains and spoke only one sentence of English to say '10 points' when he ran over the dog?! Shouldn't laugh but ha.
We all went for food. We were starving but I still did the stupid thing of 'oh we're in Laos lets try some chicken lap' (a Laos specialty) if your starving go for a safe option. Lap is chopped up, fried chicken with a lime, citrusy dressing. Not the best but I eat it.
Everywhere on the main street shuts at 10-10:30pm so we got a couple of drinks from the shop and sat on the steps outside the guesthouse. After a bit we arranged to meet for breakfast and went bed.
