Well these last couple weeks have been somewhat uneventful as the semester quickly winds to a close, therefore little time for blogging… and not much to even blog about! My weeks have begun to fall into a somewhat predictable routine now--- Monday: School all day and netball at night, Tuesday: Talk to all those Canadians awaiting my presence on skype and footy (Australian Football) practice in the afternoon, Wednesday: School and basketball, Thursday: Volunteer at the Murdoch Sustainability Team's stall, sustainability meeting, lab and footy practice and Friday: No school or sports!Come the weekend I am ready to head out and explore whatever I can.Since my last blog post, I have checked out the Fremantle Maritime Museum, which was pretty interesting (but probably only if you are a marine nerd like moi).Lucy and I spent a Saturday morning checking it out, followed by a lovely afternoon at a café doing (believe it or not...) schoolwork!
Last weekend was full of footy (AFL)!Thanks to my friend Luke from my basketball team, I went to the Subiaco Oval to see the West Coast Eagles (Perth) play the Hawthorn Hawks (Tasmania). Both teams are having a horrible season, so it actually made for an awesome game as they both strived to win their first match! We had an absolutely gorgeous afternoon to sit in the stadium… we all got tanned! The match was close, but the Eagles pulled through with a 102-94 win! After the game, part of the gang headed back to the village, while Lucy, Sam, Sara and I went into Subi to grab some dinner. We then bused back to the village on free transit…Perth knows what they are doing when it comes to transit. They have built-in transportation costs to the ticket price to encourage using public transit and avoiding drinking and driving. It was then time to get ready for "ladies night" at the footy club I play at.After a late night out in Freo, Sunday was spent catching up on sleep and finishing my readings for the week.
This week has been REALLY boring, consisting of school, school, co-op and more school related stuff.I've completed my last essay (which isn't due until the end of next week!) and I'm almost done my photography portfolio.I had good news about a possible co-op job working with the Bridled Ringtail Wallaby Foundation. The job would be working with GIS to determine areas that would support the reintroduction and rehabilitation of the wallaby species that was thought to be extinct until recently.I'd have to move to the east coast (Brisbane or Townsville) come July if the job pans out.I'll keep ya posted. The bad news of the week… my basketball team lost the semi-finals and worst of all I only got to play the first 10 minutes of the game because I had the privilege of taking an elbow to the mouth (but I did set a mighty fine pick)! My lip was cut up and swollen for the night, now two days later I am sporting a nice cut, but the swelling has gone down and my teeth are a-okay (so mom can stop worrying now)!I don't look like Angelina Jolie with bad lip surgery anymore… more like Leah got her lips stuck in the car door!
