All right, so it's been awhile since I last blogged… I know… I know, no more excuses.I was down for a bit with a throat infection and canker sores (lovely stuff to read about in a blog eh?) but those are all gone and I'm back to my usual busy self!I have actually been keeping just as busy as I usually am in Canada.I guess it doesn't help that I have this beautiful country to explore and my time here is ticking away at a rapid pace.My flat mates informed me the other day that I only have about 7 weeks left with them! This is kinda sad, but the fact that I haven't actually applied for any co-op jobs yet is the worst part of the 7-week countdown!I had good intentions—resume updated, cover letters written, researched jobs, emailed profs… just lacking on the APPLYING part!No worries mate, it will be done by the end of this week!
Someone asked me the other day if Australia celebrated Easter…I actually can't remember who it was, so don't worry I won't embarrass you on my blog… but for the record, yes Australia does.My Easter was a tad different than my usual Easter spent with family in Canada.I really didn't do anything special. My mom told me to treat myself to expensive chocolate (apparently the Easter Bunny doesn't know where to find me anymore!) so of course I did!Other than that, I spent my Good Friday writing an epic 18-page report comparing the distribution of epiphytes on two species of seagrasses.Fascinating stuff eh?Saturday was a beautiful day so Rina, Sara and I ventured to North Freo to a nice beachfront restaurant called "Salt" for my friend Tom's birthday. After the restaurant, I went to "2005's best house in Western Australia" (or something along those lines) for the rest of his birthday celebration.Steaks on the Barbie, Moet and Veuve in the esky and great company made for a good evening.I left the party early to pick up my Canadian friend Jenn from the airport and we headed back to Murdoch.Arriving back at Murdoch we were pleasantly greeted by two boys who appeared to be playing "cops and robbers"… running away from the cab, shooting at the cab… you know.As we got closer, I had the privilege of introducing the "cops and robbers" as my flat mates Rune and Matt… great first impressions!
The next day I took Jenn into Freo to check out the street performer festival that was going on.As we were waiting for the bus into Freo, Rojesh drove by and decided he would just drive us into Freo.We took a slight de-tour so he could show Jenn the beach (a section that I hadn't even seen!I just keep finding more hidden ones!)The two of us wandered the streets checking out the little boutiques and stopping here and there to watch the street performers. We even watched a Canadian guy from Vancouver who could untangle himself from a straightjacket and 20feet of padlocked chain link! Pretty cool stuff.Later on in the day, we caught up with Sara for some coffee along the cappuccino strip before heading back and calling it an early night. We had to get ready for our trip down south and our 5-am wakeup after all!
