Tues Oct 11th 2010 --- Back to Byron Bay!
Today, Maree had the day off work, so she gratefully took us into Byron Bay for the day.Byron is a super cool beach town known for it's laid back attitude and somewhat hippy vibe.Just my kinda place! I spent a lot of time here 4 years ago when I was last out in Australia. The town hasn't changed too much, other than some new shops and restaurants.
The weather today was okay, but not quite warm enough for the beach (at least there was no rain!), so instead we opted for a 3km or so hike to the lighthouse and back through the rainforest. The lighthouse hike is a lovely one that takes you to the most easterly point in Australia ( Therefore, I was the closest to home today as I've been in the last 9 months!)
After our workout we ate lunch on the patio of the Byron Bay Hotel facing the ocean.I could/have already gotten used to this kind of lifestyle… Canada please ease me in gently when I return to reality in November! After lunch we did some wandering through beach shops. The most unique little boutiques pop up all over Byron Bay, many with South East Asian influences which I absolutely adore! The downside, prices have been inflated 3x compared to purchasing the goods directly from Asia!
On our way back to Lismore we popped in at Maree's sister's house in Clunes to say hi.We had heard about Annette from Maree, we basically felt like we knew her! After meeting her 2 boys and having a cup of tea, we hurried back to Maree's place for dinner and to check up on Min who is busy studying for her grade 12 HSC (Higher School Certificate) exams.
