We survived the 6 hour minibus journey from Oaxaca to Huatulco. It was dirt cheap but we were crammed in a 6 person minibus with 12 mexicans. The trip took us through a winding dirt track across many mountains. We stopped in two villages on the way one of which was having a wedding where everyone attended. The trip was hot and intense but we saw a lot of the mexican outback so very rewarding.
Upon arrival we were dead and let down by the guides lack of maps so stayed in probably the worst place in town. The next day we resolved to find a better place. And so we found hostal luna creciente, which was wonderful and cheap! Air con, cable, the works!
The beaches here are lovely as they are set with a forest backdrop. Santa cruz is spoilt by amigos but Chahue has 1 very nice beach club with a free pool and very cheap food and beer. Probably the loveliest beach ive ever been too!
Horse riding was stunning! We went through the forest and saw so much wildlife. It was no english horse riding experience either. We set of at a cantar and only slowed when their were things to see or steep, steep drops. I saw a huge red and white spider that probably could eat a man. We arrived at a literally virgin beach. Noone was there and the only access was a very overgrown track that the horses crashed through. We rested and swam before racing the horses along the beach. The ride back was tough as we were very saddle sore. I still have scabs on my ass!
Huatulco has been very restful but being travellers we must move on. San Cristobal is next up.
