We weren't sure what to do yesterday but after talking to someone behind the bar where we had breakfast we decided to walk out to some caves nearby. There was one which had a swimming lagoon in it which we thought might be nice in the heat. Instead we ended up at the other place where you climb up the mountain to reach the viewpoint at the top. It has been quite a walk already but we decided to give it a go in our flip flops. It was such a hard walk and would have been bad enough in proper shoes! We eventually got to the top and the view as worth the trek. There were a couple of higher points we could have climbed on to which would have given a better panoramic, but we decided it wasn't worth it in our shoes. Instead we sat up there looking out and appreciating the view while chatting with a group of three people from England, Sam, Bobbie and Cat, mainly about the food from home we miss!
After about an hour we started back down the mountain and started towards the next cave we had originally planned to see but after walking a bit we decided we were a bit walked out and headed back to the river instead. Here we sat on one of the wood and bamboo structure they have next to and in the water. We sat and cooled down with our feet in the river before going back to shower and chill for a bit. Shane fell asleep and this meant we pretty much missed the sunset by the river which we had planned to go see. We went back into town for food and had a couple of drinks with our meal before going to the main bar in Vang Vieng, Sakura. They had free whisky mixers between 8 and 9, so we made the most of these and bumped into the three we had met earlier. We spent the rest of the night with them drinking far too much! I went and had a bit of a dance with the girls which was funny as it is mainly Koreans here and they were all going crazy especially when they played the odd 'k-pop' song!
I have no idea what time it was but eventually they kicked us all out and everyone headed to a jungle party that was going on. We decided to just grab a bottle of whisky from the shop, which cost us about 80p, and went back to their hostel to play some drinking games. They then turned all the lights off so we stuck with it for a while before grabbing some food and heading to bed.
I woke up this morning feeling horrific and Shane seems to have progressively got worse! We got up late, had something to eat and have headed back to the river to chill out and recover! I think tonight will be a bit of a quieter one ready for our bus tomorrow to Luang Prabang.
