Today we were up ready for our bus to Luang Prabang. We were put in a tuk tuk first that drove around picking others up before taking us to a hotel where we waited for our bus. Just after 9 it turned up but it took a while for the driver to figure out how he was going to fit all of us in and our bags! Eventually us and two other westerners were crammed intone back four seats in a mini bus. Half way through the journey 4 Korean girls offered to swop with us which made the rest of the journey a bit more comfortable. We had heard borrow stories about this journey, but we didn't think it was too bad. It was pretty bumpy and mainly windy roads on a mountain, which was a little scary at times, but the scenery was stunning and well worth seeing!
We arrived in Luang Prabang just after 3 and walked the short distance to our hostel. It's basic but pretty nice and the two people we are sharing with seem okay but are both leaving tomorrow. After ditching our stuff we headed off for a walk around to get our bearings. We bumped into the couple we met in Thakhek as well and they told us where we could find the food market where you can get a bowl and fill it with as much food from a buffet for just over a £1! We had some food here and then went for a walk around the night market. There was so much nice stuff and we tried our best to resist buying everything we saw! We did pick up a hoodie for Shane to wear when we arrive in Hanoi.
After this we headed back to where we are staying and to see if Shane's phone was working! It wouldn't turn on so we tried to charge it but rice had got stuck in the charger port! We can't seem to get it out so will try and find a phone shop and see what they say tomorrow.
We are getting up early tomorrow so find the Vietnamese consulate and sort our visas for the next month of our travels.
