It had rained most of the night and into the morning so we had to decide what to do based upon the bad weather conditions. We decided to go for the cheap basically free option and found this place called Weta Cave.
After my disappointment of not being able to visit Hobbiton, aka 'Bag End' in LOTR, due to filming, Weta Cave was the best option as it was free and had lots of exciting stuff about films and props etc. Weta is a company that do animation, costumes, props, you name it for films, such as LOTR, avatar, the narnia chronicles, the last samurai and Halo just to name a few, they also do a huge business in collectible miniatures such as the muppets and LOTR.
After seeing some behind the scenes footage and me trying to actually get behind the scenes and see if they were doing props etc. for the new "The Hobbit' film and trying to see where the staff entrance was and see if you could see in, we headed to one of many central cheap foodcourts for a chinese and indian, very tasty, cheap curries and chinese's were becoming regular in our diet.
We then headed to the local free museum, the equivalent of the natural history museum in the UK where we learnt all about climates and earthquakes, we saw a collossal squid which had been discovered by a fishing ship and donated to the museum after being investigated by scientists, who discovered it has a really sharp beak, talons on its tentacles that twist round and eyeballs the size of footballs!!! Very freaky.
We then hunted for tattoo shops as Josh's interest in getting a tattoo was becoming bigger, so we investigated prices and then discovered Man U were playing Chelsea at 3 in the morning on Monday and we are going to watch it! Hooray!
Went back to camp to have dinner with the strange people again, hopefully with a better nights sleep
