Bedbugs and Chow Kit...
There were three of us staying in the room I was in. One morning, one of the girls Jillian woke up covered in itchy red dots, went to see the doc and found out it was BEDBUGS! So we had a bit of a freak out, she changed beds and Jade and I hoped we wouldn't be next.
We caught one having a stroll on a pillow and squashed it.
No bites the next morning, but as I was packing I found one wandering on my bed. Or at least I think it was a bedbug, and if not it was a tick. Either way, I was quite glad to be getting out of there, but not too happy to see that my sleeping bag cannot be washing machined.
Chow Kit is a market in Little India, which I found by accident while looking at a stall displaying interesting vegetables. This stall turned out to be a number of stalls and I entered the dark passageway to find a huge hidden marketplace. As I walked, vegetables became piles of dried fish, grey shrimps, fish, semi-dead fish and the occasional live one that made an attempt to free itself only to be scooped off the floor by the stall guy.
There were also yellow chickens, plucked and beheaded but set out with their legs extended towards the roof and their toes separated so it looked like they were killed while being terrified or something.
I got a bit claustrophobic in there, not only because of the tiny space but because I was probably the only white girl in the area and was attracting a lot of attention.
