Bedbugs and Chow Kit... There were three of us staying in the room I was in. One morning, one of the girls Jillian woke up covered in itchy red dots, went to see the doc and found out it was BEDBUGS! So we had a bit of a freak out, she changed beds and Jade and I hoped we wouldn't be next. We caught one having a stroll on a pillow and squashed it. Took a day trip out from KL to Melaka today! It was quite interesting, steeped in history apparently, with Dutch, Portugese and British leftovers. Kuala Lumpur is so hectic! It is trying to be like Singapore, with the fabcy shopping malls and expensive shops and cool new monorail system, but the people can't really keep up... So this is a pain: Taking the train from Singapore to KL costs about 40 dollars when you buy the ticket in Singapore. And it costs 40 ringgit when you go from Johor Bahru, just across the border in Malaysia. Apparently this is how they used to convert money, and never bothered to change the system... buying the ticket in Malaysia is about 3 times cheaper. Sooo I took the bus over to JB!
