Up nice and early and off to climb rocks, walked to the pharmacy to stock up on some electrolyte salts to make sure we don't get dehydrated and next thing I knew we were trying on harnesses and rock climbing boots.
A short taxi to the cliffs and 10 minute steep walk with Bailey the instructors dog in tow and we were at fraggle rock. Three of us in the group and Chris went first whilst I stood at the top near to a panic attack!
Once back up I decided to go next to get it over and done with otherwise I feared I'd chicken out! Ropes attached and I was suddenly hanging over a humongous cliff! We slowly moved down backwards till virtually horizontal and then it was abseiling all the way down! It was mental but amazing at the same time!!!! Another 2 times down and then it was time for climbing.
We moved to Devine rock to begin climbing. I was last to go and OMG it was tough...trying to find places to put your hands and feet can become confusing and then finding the strength and courage to actually move was tricky! I struggled at one point to actually reach - are having short arms an advantage for anything? We did this twice and then moved onto the chimney!
The chimney is two walls close together with a narrow path between the two. Anyone who has seen 127 hours that's what it looked like. Feet on one wall and back and hands on the other we slid ourselves up the face until it became too wide and then we had to starfish it!
Once down that was it, we were done and I was shattered! Back to good time adventures office for a beer and some grub!
After lunch we headed back to the hostel to change out of our climbing gear and arrange our transport from koh Tao back to Bangkok on Friday.
We then decided to go for a walk along me beach before our nighttime UV snorkelling expedition. This was really good - snorkelling in the dark with a blue light and filter over the goggles. The plankton and coral reef literally glowed in the dark.
This lasted an hour and on getting out Mel discovered that she had been stung by a sea urchin so we had to hit her with a snorkel...her leg that is.
Then on the walk back to the hostel..the first along the yellow brick road in the dark we discovered there was no lighting so phone torches had to come out. Unfortunately not soon enough as if the sting wasn't bad enough Mel then slipped on the stone steps - oopsies!
At dinner the curse struck again - I don't think I've once ordered a meal and the restaurant have what I actually wanted from the menu - very disappointed!
All in all quite an energetic day...rest tomorrow!
