We decided to have a lie in this morning - the first of our travels, before being picked up and taken to chiang mai airport for our flight back to Bangkok.
At the airport we checked in for our flight only to find out we had been given incorrect information regarding baggage allowance and we were both over the limit. With no hope of rectifying the situation we simply paid the excess charges and went our way.
To cheer ourselves up we ventured to
MacDonalds for a Big Mac before a brief rest and we boarded the plane.
Back in Bangkok and we got a taxi to Koh San Road to check in for out bus/ferry journey to Koh Tao - the taxi driver continued to try and talk to us but since he spoke no English and us no thai this was challenging and yet he remained persistent. After not knowing where he was going he eventually dropped us outside a hotel where we could walk the remainder which we did, only to find it was the wrong desk and the right one was directly in front of where we had been dropped off.
As we had a few hours to kill we went and had an ice cream, browse of the stalls and got a thai back neck and head massage. Clearly I needed it as the cracks that came from my back were a bit disconcerting!
After that we decided to go for a slice of pizza as we had seen others with them and they looked amazing. Unfortunately our order was lost in translation and we ended up with 2 giant pizzas of which I could barely manage half of mine.
We got the remainder boxed up and ready to go and checked in for the next part of our journey and then just waited for the bus to arrive....and waited.....and waited some more. An hour later and eventually they turned up.
I as my luck seems to have it had a rather tall gentleman sat behind me meaning out of courtesy I couldn't put my seat back. This resulted in a not so comfy 8 hour bus ride!
We made it to the ferry in good time, located our bags and sat down and waited for the boat.
The journey lasted 90 minutes and then we arrived Koh Tao. Unable to check in to the hostel for another 3 hours we went to a cafe for pancakes and then wandered around the area.
We ventured into an activities company to book ourselves in and then spent the remainder of the afternoon on the beach!
Back at the hostel we had a brief nap and then headed out for dinner to the Cafe Del Sol. I decided to have a desert to cheer myself up as it seems the rumours were true and my I seem to be minus a few items of clothing now - must have had them taken from my locked bag whilst on the bus!
The hostel this time is my worst nightmare I have to admit - 14 bunk beds in one room with communal showers and toilets located downstairs! Privacy here is not an option so for sleeping I managed to build myself a little fort out of my bags and towels which seems to have done the trick! On the plus side there is proper air con which is nice as the sea water here is basically bath temperature so not overly refreshing on a warm day!
