Our first full day in Torquay and it was time to explore the local area. We drove into Torquay and had a look around an art and craft market on the beachfront before stopping for coffee on the main street. We also called in at the local farmers' market, which turned out to be about eight stalls in a car park - not what we expected after visiting some brilliant markets out here!
We had a drive out to try to find Marshall Station, where we'll catch the train into Melbourne on Monday for our Neighbours tour; it's going to be a lot easier than driving into the city centre. Then we headed for the nearest large town, Geelong, which was a lot bigger than we all expected. We enjoyed our walk along the seafront and had a ride on the giant ferris wheel like proper tourists - good views of the town and the bay though!
Our last stop of the day were the Botanic Gardens, where we had lunch and a wander around while trying not to gatecrash a wedding party who were there taking photos. We saw them as we were leaving and Laura was not impressed by their outfit choices!
Back at Bellbrae, we went for a swim and a sauna, then chilled out for the rest of the night in the unit; Laura whipped up a fantastic stir-fry and we watched The Dilemma - a busy first day and we're heading out to the Twelve Apostles for a second look tomorrow.
