It's been a while since the last update and our leaving date seems really close now - 45 days to go! We've still got lots of things to do and people to catch up with before we leave...
We found out last week that our plans for Fiji might not happen exactly as we've planned - the Tribewanted project we were going to stay with has got into financial problems and they're unsure when or if they'll re-open this summer...a shame we only learnt this after Laura had booked and paid for it, along with the flights to the island! We've managed to get our money back from Tribewanted but the flights are non-refundable, so we'll just have to wait and see whether we can re-book later. If not, we'll have to write off the cost of the flights and find another island to lounge on for a couple of weeks - there are plenty to choose from!
We've also had an email to say we need to re-apply for our Rugby World Cup tickets as our match has been moved from Christchurch to Dunedin because of the earthquake. Not too much of a problem - Dunedin sounds like a lively place with lots going on so we might be better off there anyway!
We're both glad we've finally finished our course of injections - we were very brave and they didn't hurt too much but we didn't get a sticker or a lolly from the nurse :-( We just need to sort malaria tablets now and I need to buy a year's supply of contact lenses but that's about it for health stuff I think...
Our leaving party is booked (can't wait!) for the 28th May at the Pov - will be good to see everyone together one last time before we head off into the sunshine...Just hope we get a bit in Normanby on the day! Heading to town for drinks afterwards with anyone who's still standing, should be a memorable day!
