Travel jabs and America plans...
Another step on the way to our first flight...we both had our lovely injections for some pretty nasty diseases tonight, and there's more still to come! We're now covered for hepatitis A, polio, tetanus, typhoid and diptheria - didn't really feel very much and arms are OK. On the other hand, Laura said hers really hurt and she can still still feel it - didn't get away with using it as an excuse not to go to Zumba though! Excuse me Mr Parsons, it did hurt A LOT!
The nurse was really helpful and wrote down everything we still need to do (yellow fever, rabies, hepatitis B and flu injections, as well as get hold of some malaria tablets) and answered all of our questions - we were quite impressed. Yet somehow I think she quite enjoyed repeatedly telling us that we were going to lots of "HIGH RISK AREAS" and she opened by telling us that we should think about going to Blackpool instead!
In other news, we've now booked our accomodation for our first few stops in America - after staying with Balet in New York for a few days, we're heading to Washington and staying at the Hostelling International hostel, then moving onto New Orleans where we're at theSt. Peter House Hotel in the French Quarter. We've already got our two timeshare weeks so we've just got the other bits before and after still to sort.
We're thinking of maybe touring around a few of the national parks for a week, then heading to San Fransisco after our week in Vegas, but it's all getting pricey, so we might have to change things a bit so we don't blow our entire budget in the first two months...watch this space!
Dave
You forgot to say that we might be going to see Barry Manilow in Las Vegas - the highlight of the whole trip!!
