Today was a guy called Carter's birthday. His nickname was Mississippi as that's where he's from and he has a very strong accent (think Forest Gump!). Anyway, he was 26 today which made him 2 days older than me! We didn't end up seeing much of him though, even though we had planned to celebrate both of our birthdays.
I got up first and had breakfast (Dave was sufferring slightly so had an extra hour in bed!), and then we headed to the library to use the computers (for free). We managed to write a few blog entries then went to the shops for a few essentials, this also gave Dave the chance to buy me a birthday card! We stopped at subway on the way back to the hostel and shared a footlong for $5 - you have to be on the lookout for such bargains when you're travelling! We were both feeling tired when we got back so went back to bed for a few hours!
After showering and making tea we headed to the pier to watch the sunset as it was our last night in Hermosa. The sunset was beautiful and we took some lovely photos. We had a drink in the hostel then went to Sangria bar with Liam and Stephen. On the way in we spotted two women a bit older than us and one of them was wearing a tiara and a sash that said 'birthday princess', so I wished her a happy birthday. She liked my accent and invited us to join her. We had a fun hour or so sitting with her and her friend. Found out she sells real estate on the beach and her name was Champagne (yes really, she gave me her card!). We went on to the Irish bar for a couple more and got talking to 2 of the 3 English medical students. We mostly talked about the TV show 'Junior Doctors' that we were hooked to earlier in the year.
We left quite early as everyone headed to another bar, and went back to the hostel to pack our rucksacks (we're getting really good at this now), as we had to leave quite early the next morning to travel to San Diego. We hadn't expected to like LA, from talking to other people, but had a fantastic few days at Hermosa Beach!
