This photo's of the Buffalo River in Arkansas...seems like a long time since we were there now...I bet Joe Beaver's still keeping 'em all entertained! Today we got up early for our 2 1/2hr bus journey to get to the Greyhound station! It was lunchtime by the time we checked in and while we were waiting for the bus we went to the cafe in the station...if you're ever here, don't have a burger - horrible and greasy! When we got on the bus (a Crucero, which must be one of Greyhound's partners that runs into Mexico) we found out that it had free wi-fi so I kept myself entertained on the tablet for the whole journey while Laura read and slept.
Once we arrived in San Diego, we called the hostel to find out about the promised free transport to our accomodation. They told us to get the bus and keep our tickets and we would be reimbursed when we arrived, which we were! As we were checking in, we thought it might be worth escaping from the dorms for a few nights and asked if there were any private rooms available, only to find out the hostel was completely sold out for the next few nights - Comic-Con was in town! It's a massive comic/TV/film convention that happens every year, I didn't know much about but have heard it mentioned in a few Simpsons episodes! This explained why we found it so hard to book a hostel in San Diego!
We were sharing a room with three Aussies and a guy from Hawaii. The two Aussie girls have a website and go around interviewing new bands (from what we could make out from listening in to their conversations!) There was a farmers' market going on on the street outside the hostel and we bought some fantastic Thai food for tea followed by chocolate coconut macaroons...mmm! There was a hostel trip to the beach (down the street again!) for a bonfire at 9pm, so we went along for an hour or so and sat talking to a few people but left early as we had a full day at the zoo planned for the next day!
