Well I thought it was about time I wrote on my blog again as it has been a while. I didn't actually realise how long! This will be the last entry for Newcastle for now beacause as I am writing this we have just now moved back to Sydney. I left off on my last entry saying we had just been out for the day to Nelson Bay. We spent the next few days relaxing and going out for lunch and that's pretty much it. Gran left to go back home on that Thursday so we went out for a meal on her last night. It was a really nice place where you could eat all you wanted and they had loads to choose from. We went with Penny to take her to the airport in Sydney the following morning. I was surprised that the journey wasn't any longer than by train. They are just so slow! We stopped at The Rocks for lunch and went to the most amazing pancake place ever. They were gorgeous! After that we went straight to drop off Gran and waited with her until she was ready to go through to the terminal. She got a bit emotional at that point!
There isn't that much else to write as we spent most of our last few weeks there trying to get some work. We tried hard but it was mostly in vain unfortunatley. We wrote up our CV's, got our tax file numbers and bank accounts sorted so we were all ready to go. I wanted to get either bar or waitressing work really and asked about at all the places nearby but no one really had any openings. We went out of town to neighbouring towns with shopping centres and things to ask about but didn't have any luck there either. Justin managed to get a job working in an outbound call centre in Newcastle selling holidays. The hours were only 9-1 monday to friday which was good, but that didn't work out for him and he left after 3 days. He hadn't been able to sell enough but I don't think he was too upset about it as it was a pretty rubbish job. That weekend I went in to Newcastle to do my RSA course, which stands for Responsible Serving of Alcohol, which you have to have the certificate for to do any bar work. It was the most boring day I have had in a long time but it's pretty important to do otherwise I wouldn't be able to get any of the work that I wanted. We got the job papers and I went for an interview for one restaurant but didn't hear anything back. They seemed to all get put off when I said I was a backpacker even if I lied and said I was staying here for months and months! Ryan took me out and about in town too to ask some people he knew if they had any work.
Apart from the job search it was hard to do everything we wanted as the weather continued to remain rainy and horrible. It was never cold but rained most of the time and it could turn very quickly. We went out one day when it was boiling hot, but all of a sudden it started to thunder and then pour down with rain, so we got soaked to the skin while running home! We even went for walks to the lake and for lunch when it was pouring with rain just to get out. It wasn't all bad though as I didn't mind staying in sometimes. It was nice to be in a proper home as there isn't much to do in a hotsel when it's raining. We watched hundreds of DVD's and films and different TV series. The best was the Notebook, but I cried for about half an hour after it had finished! We went to the cinema loads to and watched quite a few good films. Here it goes: PS I Love You, 27 Dresses, Juno, Sweeny Todd, Fools Gold, Definetly Maybe and Jumper.
We took every opportunity to do something when it was nice outside. Justin and I got the bus out and about to places and when Daniel got his new car it meant that we could use his old one. We went bowling again a few times, did crazy golf and went go-karting which the boys loved. I wasn't very fast but I hadn't ever done it before and it was good fun. We went otu for dinner quite a few times too. We had a really good time on our last weekend there as it was hot and sunny the whole weekend. We went out for lunch and shopping in the car, and we went to the beach too. We went to Bar beach in Newcastle and also Blacksmiths which was nearer the house. My tan ahd all but faded so I had some catching up to do. Justin took the bodyboard out which he loved doing. Mainly becasue you don't have to stand up like surfing so he never fell off! We also went out to the pub where Ryan works again at night. It was a shame in a way that we left on Tuesday to go back to Sydney. We were really looked after and spoiled the whole time we were there and we would miss everyone. It was sad to go but Justin had a oppourtunity to get a job in Sydney so we headed back and had our fingers crossed we would have more luck on the job trail there!
