Sorry its been quite a while since we have bothered writing our blog but hopefully we will catch up again in the next few days :-)
Next stop Byron Bay...........
As soon as we got off the bus (yes another 12 hour journey!!) the heat suddenly hit us. Byron Bay is a really relaxed place where loads of people go surfing everyday and enjoy the beaches. I suppose you could call this a typical Aussie town with lots of pubs and surfers. We walked to a lighthouse at Cape Byron which is the most easterly point of inland Australia, so basically there is nothing else to the east until you hit South America! We were looking out for whales because they had spotted them the day before but unfortunately we had missed them again! However, we stopped for a minute to watch the surfers and a pod of about half a dozen dolphins started jumping in and out the water next to the surfers. It looked like they were trying to play a game with them! On the way back from the lighthouse we saw a snake just tucked in from the path and was about a meter long. Once again Ben was fasinated and i was screaming and running away. Im not quite sure i will ever get used to seeing snakes/spiders etc etc everywhere you go!
As the weather was so nice we decided to go to a pub and sit outside in the sunshine at the Beach hotel. We heard that this place was the place to go on Sunday afternoons so we made another visit to it. It was like a club having a rave at 3pm on a Sunday outside!! It was soooooooooo busy and they had a really good singer on. We met a couple from Tasmania there and we bumped into them in Nimbin as well which was rather sureal. That was just the start of bumping in to people though!
Ben finished off his open water scuba diving there and is now fully qualified. He went out diving at Julian Rocks which is one of the best places in the world to dive because its where 2 seas meet so you get all different types of fish. He saw some turtles, lion fish and even a shark but i will let him tell you about that another time...
Off to Nimbin!!!
