We got up at 9am and attemped a phonecall with our families, but failed as the internet is so terrible here. So we ended up driving to Hinton to use the wifi in the McDonalds there! The internet there was really good, so we managed to skype for a couple of minutes with each of our family members, but then decided it was time to go when it was getting to the point that the whole restaurant would be knowing our business and may aswell be introduced to our families as they/one man in particular seemed intrigued as to whom we were talking with!
Afterwards we went to explore some shops in the area that we hadn't been to before and I got a thai noodle salad, and Jacob got orange chicken with chinese rice. It was average - wouldn't get it again though. We then headed back towards Pocahontas, as it was around 4pm by this time. We stopped off on the way to look at some viewpoints and take some quick photos. At one of the stops I used the toilet which was in a little wooden hut. It was basically a seat with a big drop into the ground where you could see everyone elses business from goodness knows how long ago. Really will be avoiding roadside toilets in future, as it wasn't so pleasant and I partly had the fear that some sort of animal would try and crawl up as the toilet seat was certainly big enough to allow one to!
Next, we drove to Lake Annette and Lake Edith. This was such a lovely area. The drive there was pretty, and we bypassed the very picturesque Miette River which looked inviting. When we got to Lake Annette, we saw lots of deer which were very close by - these were obviously more used to humans than the ones we get up at Pocahontas Cabins site. Lake Annette and Edith were absolutely beautiful. I just wanted to dive into the water - it was so clear! We stood for a while just watching it lap against the shore and watching the tiny little fish and minnows weaving about the stones near the edge. After a short walk around, we headed back to Pocahontas and got into our pyjamas around 8:30pm, feeling extremely tired! We watched a film that was on TV about a court case involving a baby that got taken by a Dingo in Australia, with Meryl Streep in it. It was a bit slow to start but got interesting in the end!
