We had to get up to leave for the train station at 6.30. Trains either seem to stay at the station for ages or not stay very long at all so we got on any carriage, not wanting to miss it. Going down a busy carriage with huge rucksacks weren't fun! We managed to get seats (and rope in a man's help to put our bags on the overhead rack). There were some Christian boys who had guitars who wanted us to play/sing Christmas songs with them. The chocolate and cashew nut cinnamon bun I had on the journey to Kochi was yummy.
The coach ticket said to catch the bus in Edappaley, near city silks so after stockpiling our stomachs with ice-cream (Alice), corn vegetable fritters, deep fried banana custard thing and cashew nut pie thing (me) we sat at the bus stop opposite city silks which seemed the logical location. However after waiting an hour, Alice noticed a 'Paulo' coach waiting quite far down the road -not near city silks at all! SO we ran with our bags on- feeling very silly because we weren't really going anywhere because of the weight of our rucksacks. We were too embarrassed to ask how long they'd been waiting for us.
The bus was very cold with the air conditioning, and we didn't have very many stops considering we didn't have a toilet on board. The person in front of Alice had a very deep reclining chair and behind her was a very, very hyper Russian boy. At the services he was jumping up and down, screaming, trying to tickle me and Alice and running around a car non-stop. I'm not sure how much this had to do with being sat on a bus for so long.
Luckily the amount of free seats meant that we both got to have 2 seats to ourselves, so had a reasonable night's sleep- although I'm not sure about our 'sealth and hafety ' sleeping on a bus with no seat belts on when the driving is so jolty.
